Giacomo's work has been concentrated on the effort to better understand how agriculture, food, nutrition, and health interact in low- and middle- income countries.
He is currently interested in assessing the energy requirements of farmers and capturing the effect of agricultural practices on health and nutrition. He is an economist by training and currently an Associated Professor in Food Economics and Health at the University of Reading. Giacomo previously supported the work of the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition and was research officer at Oxford University’s Department of International Development.
