Annabel is a Senior Teaching Fellow in sustainable development and Programme Director for MSc Sustainable Development in the Centre for Development, Environment and Policy, SOAS.
Annabel has researched and taught across a number of themes related to development, environment, agriculture and gendered constructions of food production and has particular expertise in Latin America and West Africa. She is interested in exploring interdisciplinary research projects which investigate intersecting inequalities within the globalised food system, agrarian change and food security.
Annabel has published on agricultural practices and cultural meanings of the Milpa in Mexico and on Farmers’ Cooperatives in Africa. She has also worked in India and Ghana and conducted her PhD fieldwork in Mexico. Annabel is also interested in pedagogy, exploring interdisciplinary knowledge integration and the application of systems thinking in learning and research.
